The Government of Alberta has launched the Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant (CAPG), a new program designed to help businesses invest in training that boosts productivity, competitiveness, and long-term growth. For employers, this represents a significant opportunity to build stronger teams while reducing the cost of professional development.
Through CAPG, eligible employers can receive 50% reimbursement of training costs for existing employees, up to $5,000 per employee each year. 75% reimbursement of training costs for hiring and training unemployed Albertans, up to $10,000 per individual each year. A maximum of $100,000 in funding per employer, per year.
The grant covers a wide range of training-related expenses, including tuition, textbooks, exam fees, software, and even travel if required. Training programs must be completed within 52 weeks, delivered in Alberta (or online), and focused on improving technical, digital, or productivity-related skills.
